Isaiah

Judgment and salvation

Isaiah discusses problems that are as troublesome today as they were in ancient Israel and Judah. With Israel (the northern kingdom) living in slavery and exile, the inhabitants of Judah (the southern kingdom) stand at a crossroads. Lacking a strong leader to point them back to God, the people slip into idolatry and indifference, extortion and excess, depravity and deceit. In the midst of this spiritual decline, Isaiah brings a message of confrontation to the people of Judah as well as a message of hope for the exiles of Israel.
Isaiah, a well-educated prophet, maintains direct access to the king and to the leaders of Judah. He speaks God’s words clearly, denouncing the idolatry and sinful practices of the people (Isa 1-5). He vividly recounts his vision of God, revealing God’s holiness (Isa 6). He demonstrated God’s awesome power over seemingly insurmountable obstacles when Sennacherib threatens Jerusalem (Isa 36-37). Using a compelling poetic style, Isaiah offers peace and strength to those who follow God (Isa 40).
The book of Isaiah also includes the most vivid portrayal of the Messiah found in the Old Testament. We learn of his birth (Isa 9) and his supremacy over everything ( Isa 41-48). We weep as Isaiah portrays the messiah as the suffering servant and unveils the horrors of his ultimate sacrifice (Isa 49-53). Yet Isaiah’s prophesy does not end with horror but with victory, with promises of hope and restoration in God’s future kingdom (Isa 60-61).

Growing Petunias

Petunias rank among the most popular flowering annuals. They are beautiful and bright, and bloom from spring until frost, and scent the air with lovely fragrance. The best part is that they are very easy to grow in the garden and in containers. Last year they blossomed on t he ground this year am planning to grow them in my new pot :)

  • Petunias grow very well when there is plenty of light.
  • They grow well in well drained soil. They dont need very rich soil to grow.
  • Petunias tolerate lots of heat, and are relatively undemanding when it comes to water. Watering them once a week may be good. But  if they are in containers they need to be watered everyday.
  • Wait until soil warms to about 60 degrees and frost danger has passed before transplanting petunias into the garden.
  • Remove faded flowers ... this is called "deadheading," it encourages blooming by preventing seed maturation.

SONG OF SONGS

A love song

The Song of Songs celebrates the joy and intimacy of the romantic love relationship between a man and a woman. This tender yet passionate picture of physical love affirms the sanctity of marriage and has often been seen as mirroring God’s unconditional love for his people.
Using at times deeply sensual word pictures, and phrases that unveil the joys of physical love, the Song of Songs introduces us to the bride, called “Beloved,” who is beautiful and deeply loved and who responds to her “Lover” with affection and passion. The groom, called “Lover,” is revealed as a handsome, virile male, who praises his bride’s beauty using delicate yet sensuous pictures from nature. The “Friends” of the bride and groom encourage their love and offer them advice and instruction. Song of songs reaches its literary and emotional climax in chapter 8 when the Beloved passionately describes the intensity and the eternal nature of the love that she and her Lover share.
The lyrical beauty of Song of Songs gives the reader a pleasurable picture of love in its most intimate form. The sensuous images of the physical side of love are paired with passionate declarations of the strength and intensity of love. They combine to reveal like no other passage of Scripture the love between a man and a woman expressed and experienced as God intended. Historically, many commentators have drawn a parallel between the Lover and the Bride in Song of Songs and Jesus Christ and his bride, the church.

Etched Heart

As I was strolling down the road....... I found this etched on the road by the melting snow....... beautiful huh??

3 twists and a braid

This is a very simple hairstyle...... it took me about 5 mins. To make this hairstyle make 3 sections and add a twist braid in each one. Then simply braid the twist braids together into a regular braid.

Perfect Love

As valentines day approaches, people are looking for love, showing how much they care about their loved ones....... some are disappointed, some are totally blessed and thankful...... yet when we look to the world for love, affection and acceptance, we may be denied, rejected or feel 'high' for sometime...... But there is just one perfect love for you and me ..... and thats Jesus.... May you always be filled with His LOVE!!
